Scott and Valerie Howard – Botany Place owners and developers
Scott and Valerie Howard, Botany Place owners and developers, have a long history with Brunswick and the land that Botany Place is being built on. They grew up and went to school together in Brunswick, Maine. They went to college in upstate New York together but returned to raise their two daughters in Brunswick. Scott and Valerie have owned and/or developed various residential and commercial properties in Maine and South Carolina. Valerie’s education and avocation included art, interior design, property development and management. Scott was a corporate executive at L. L. Bean and a capital investment adviser before joining Valerie full time in real estate development and construction.
The Botany Place land was originally owned by Valerie’s grandfather, who started a greenhouse, nursery and flower shop on Maine Street, Brunswick. Valerie’s parents built their home on part of this land, which today abuts Botany Place. Numerous parcels of this property were sold off over many years. Scott and Valerie decided to re-purchase the last in-town open 25 acres, the flower shop and two homes from nine different owners. The “Great American Neighborhood” concept for Botany Place evolved to become the premier condominium residential development in the mid-coast region. Botany Place homeowners have come from near and far with a common interest of an in-town location with a maintenance free lifestyle while enjoying the many educational, cultural, recreational, healthcare and entertainment amenities of Brunswick.
